Tom Godfrey: Jazz Guitar: Bio and Clients

NewTom.jpg

When he suffered a lip injury that ended his career as a classical trombonist, Tom Godfrey thought his life as a musician was finished, but he fell in love with music all over again when his wife gave him a guitar for Christmas in 2003. Even as he was struggling through his first chords with burning fingertips, Tom was  planning a new career. Reborn as a jazz guitarist, Tom now writes and performs his own solo arrangements of jazz classics, leads his combo, On the Cool Side, and is a founding member of InTown Band, whose original soul fusion borrows from jazz, rock, blues, reggae, and soul. Tom has also been a freelance music copyist since 1995, completing over 1,200 projects to date.

While most guitarists have rock star dreams, Tom's goal is to be the #1 background guitarist in Atlanta. Taped to his computer is his mission statement: "I will make a quiet, comfortable living playing the music I love."
